Quick Overview:

A TIMELESS WITNESS OF LIGHT

For the first time, the incredible Leica M10-R will be available in the unique and highly sought-after black paint finish.

Launched in the summer of 2020, the M10-R elevated the M-System to new heights of resolution and color fidelity for capturing timeless imagery.

Now the M10-R is offered in a limited run of this iconic finish, omitting the red dot logo in favor of the classic script and "ERNST LEITZ WETZLAR" engravings on the top plate.

Additional attention was paid to the cross-knurling of the dials and the silver finish of the shutter release, akin to the MP film camera. The high-gloss paint finish feels exquisite in the hands, looks attractive in the metal, and will over time develop a patina and look that is wholly your own.

Witness the world through the eye of a rangefinder camera, and embrace the classic look of the brass underneath that will slowly expose itself as you imprint your use on the camera over a long period of time. Please note that quantities will be limited for this special variant M10-R camera.

Increased resolution
for highest detail rendition

With a resolution of over 40 megapixels, the Leica M10-R’s newly developed image sensor is able to capture even the finest textures and details.

Its base sensitivity of ISO 100, combined with fast Leica M-Lenses, makes it easy and flexible for shooting wide open and achieving maximum background blur and strong bokeh even in bright daytime light.

On the other end of the spectrum, the new sensor allows for a longer maximum exposure time of 16 minutes, lending the user more creative freedom when capturing star trails, motion blur or bringing out the tiniest amount of light in a nighttime landscape. All of this versatility at these new heights of resolution and higher dynamic range make the M10-R an imaging powerhouse for any application.

Special components
for an exceptional performance

The Leica M10-R is more than just a big megapixel count. Its image quality is supported further by other vital components to ensure a complete package of imaging prowess.

The super quiet mechanical shutter, first established with the Leica M10-P, allows for stealthy operation and minimal vibrations to minimize camera shake and help ensure sharper photos.

The Maestro II processor yields lossless compression of raw files for manageable file sizes containing incredible amounts of detail. Every bit of the camera is focused on offering unprecedented quality with real everyday benefits to the user’s photographic life.

Hand assembly for outstanding craftsmanship

The Leica M10-R is constructed by highly trained specialists, who assemble the elaborately engineered components into a product that is much more than the sum of its parts.

The rangefinder alone is comprised of over 100 individual parts, the majority of which move together in harmony with every turn of the lens.

The exclusive use of high-end materials, along with the time-honored ‘Made in Germany’ production quality, culminate in a resilient and reliable photographic companion to last a lifetime.

The perfect combination:
taking excellence to new heights

The Leica M10-R’s high resolution sensor is optimized when paired with some of the best lenses in the world – Leica M-Lenses. Each lens in the M family from Leica is an engineering marvel of sharpness, compactness and image signature that comes alive when mounted to a Leica M camera.

From the super compact Elmarit-M 28 f/2.8 ASPH. to the razor-thin depth of field of the Summilux-M 90 f/1.5 ASPH. and the flagship performance of the APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH, the M10-R fully realizes the capabilities of the prime M-Lens it is paired with.

Metering method
Light reflected by the blades of the 1 shutter curtain onto measuring cell.

Metering range
At room temperature and normal humidity for ISO 200, at aperture 1.0 EV-2 to EV19 at aperture 32. Flashing of the left triangular LED in the viewfinder indicates values below the metering range

Via accessory shoe with central and control contacts

Synchronisation
Optionally triggered at the 1st or 2nd shutter curtain

Flash sync time
= 1/180s; slower shutter speeds can be used, if working below sync speed: Automatic changeover to TTL linear flash mode with HSS-compatible Leica system flash units

Viewfinder:

Construction principle
Large, bright line frame viewfinder with automatic parallax compensation

Eye piece
Calibrated to -0.5 dpt.; corrective lenses from -3 to +3 diopter available

Image field limiter
By activating two bright lines each: For 35 and 135mm, or for 28 and 90mm, or for 50 and 75mm; automatic switching when lens is attached

Parallax compensation
The horizontal and vertical difference between the viewfinder and the lens is automatically compensated according to the relevant distance setting, i.e. the viewfinder bright-line automatically aligns with the subject detail recorded by the lens.

Matching viewfinder and actual image
At a range setting of 2m, the bright-line frame size corresponds exactly to the sensor size of approx. 23.9 x 35.8mm; at infinity setting, depending on the focal length, approx. 7.3% (28mm) to 18% (135mm) more is recorded by the sensor than indicated by the corresponding bright line frame and slightly less for shorter distance settings than 2m

Magnification
(For all lenses) 0.73

Long-Base rangefinder
Split or superimposed image range finder shown as a bright field in the center of the viewfinder image
