New! Camera West Photo Walk
San Rafael Twilight Criterium
                                                                                                                                                                                  Photos by Michael Maloney

Please join Michael for this photo walk to Marin County where we will photograph the exciting, fast paced sport of criterium racing. The San Rafael Twilight Criterium features a series of races right in downtown San Rafael. Races are held throughout the afternoon with the men's pro race held under the lights at twilight.

Shooting fast moving subjects is a challenge and our July photo walk will certainly test our skills with bike racers tearing around the street corners of downtown San Rafael at 35-45 miles per hour. We will get ample opportunity to shoot the racers as they ride the same loop numerous times during a 45 minute to 1 hour race.

What you will learn :
  • How to capture fast moving subjects
  • How to maximize the focal length of your lens
  • How to use a fun technique called panning, or dragging your shutter
  • How to use flash fill
  • How to pay attention to the light
  • How to use a gray card
The techniques you learn on this photo walk can be applied to any sport, not just bike racing.
