New X-Series Camera from Olympus : the XZ-2

The new Olympus XZ-2 is the latest addition to the Olympus X Series of cameras. It’s a fast point-and-shoot camera with a fixed iZUIKO 4x-wide optical zoom lens that has an aperture range of f/1.8-2.5, with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24-96mm. The sensor is a 12MP 1/1.63” back-side illuminated CMOS.

Like the new Pen cameras, it’s equipped with the TruePic VI image processor, but unlike those cameras, the XZ-2 can record full 1080p HD video (as opposed to 1080i) and has a dedicated movie button. It’s rounded off with a 3” swivel touch LCD, dual image stabilization, iHS technology, in-camera panorama, 11 digital art filters and an accessory port.

New Nikon Coolpix P7700

The Nikon Coolpix P7700 has 12-megapixel CMOS sensor, and a new left-hinged vari-angle screen. The 7.1x zoom lens (28-200mm) starts at a fast f/2, moving to f/4 at full telephoto. Nikon however says the larger, brighter lens left less room for an optical viewfinder, so no viewfinder in this slim compact.

The Nikon Coolpix P7700′s heart is a 1/1.7-inch type, backside illuminated CMOS image sensor with an ISO sensitivity range of 80 to 1,600. Data is processed by Nikon’s EXPEED C2 image processor, which allows for a fast eight frames-per-second frame rate.

Fujfilm has just announced a new member of their X-series: the X-E1 digital camera, in black or silver. Like the X-Pro1, the X-E1 has a 16.3 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor, focal plane shutter, RAW file format support, ISO sensitivity to 25600 and full manual exposure control. The X-E1 also records full-HD videos at 24 frames-per-second.
