Leica Camera has announced the Leica M (Typ 262), a camera which embodies the M rangefinder philosophy in its purest form. The Leica M focuses on the essential functions for photography and an intuitive handling concept. It is the most compact full-frame camera system with access to the best lenses in the world. The Leica M (Typ 262) is dedicated to the essence of digital M rangefinder photography. It is a streamlined experience, eschewing the contemporary features of video and Live View to focus on the tried and true methods of using a rangefinder camera. Now with a top plate made of aluminum, the Leica M (Typ 262) is lighter than its M and
M-P (Typ 240) siblings by nearly 100 grams.
Available in late November for $5195.

Leica has released a major firmware update for the Leica T (Typ 701) APS-C mirrorless camera. Firmware 1.4 promises to make autofocus twice as fast, while improving the touchscreen responsiveness. The update also makes the camera compatible with Leica’s new full-frame SL lenses.
Leica also plans to launch two new lenses in 2016. The Leica Summilux-TL 35mm F1.4 ASPH will be available in Spring 2016, with the Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm F2.8 ASPH to follow later in the year.
