Thank you to all the participants of our Camera West Photo Walk at Acalanes High School in Pleasant Hill. We shot the girl’s varsity lacrosse match against Dougherty Valley. Think everyone learned just how challenging shooting a fast-paced sport like lacrosse can be. Using the right equipment and correct technique however makes it easier. Below are a few photos from the evening.
Although we had sideline access to the game, telephotos from 200mm to 400mm helped bring the action closer.
David concentrates on the action through a 400mm f2.8 lens.

Join Michael as we shoot America’s first sport : lacrosse.
For this photo walk, we will visit the campus of Acalanes High School in Lafayette where we will have sideline access to shoot a girl’s varsity game against Dougherty Valley.
Lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action. A real challenge to photograph! Shooting soccer is easy compared to this sport! The athletes sprint up and down the field with abrupt starts and stops, while making precision passes with the crosse. It’s a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey, and one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States.
Michael will be on hand to help you set up your camera and give you valuable info to help you come up with some great action shots. What you learn in this photo walk, can be applied to any other action sport or just to capture images of your kids running through the park.
Although we will have sideline access, a long telephoto lens is highly recommended.
Sign up early for this photo walk as it will be limited to just 12 participants.
Tuesday, April 30th
