US photographer Frank Hallam Day won the Leica Oskar Barnack Award for his portfolio, “Alumascapes,” and Polish photographer Piotr Zbierski won the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award for his portfolio, “Pass by Me.”
The photo contest by Leica recorded over 2,800 entries from professional photographers in 101 countries this year. This video shows the winners and finalists’ portfolios.
First prize in this year’s highly prestigious photography competition, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2012, went to US photographer Frank Hallam Day. For his portfolio, “Alumascapes,” he will receive a Leica M9-P camera and lens, as well as a cash prize. The second place winner in this year’s competition was Piotr Zbierski from Poland. His portfolio, “Pass by Me,” wins the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award 2012 and a Leica M9-P with lens. The prizes will be presented on July 3, 2012 at the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie photograph festival in Arles, in the south of France.
