New X Series Lens from Fujifilm

Fujifilm has announced the release of a very impressive zoom lens for the X-mount series of mirrorless cameras. The XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR lens gives you a 35mm focal-length equivalent of 24-84mm, perfect as a carry-around lens. Its f/2.8 maximum aperture enables low light shooting and shallow depth-of-field control throughout the zoom range. A rounded 9-blade diaphragm helps to create pleasing out-of-focus areas when shooting with shallow depth of field.

Fujifilm’s HT-EBC coating and the new Nano-GI coating improves light transmission between the three aspherical and three extra-low dispersion (ED) lens elements, virtually eliminating flare and ghosting. Also, when used on XT-1 and X-E2 cameras, Lens Modulation Optimizer (LMO) technology automatically corrects for diffraction to further improve sharpness, especially with small apertures.

The 16-55mm F2.8 R LM WR will be available in February for $1199.
