Please join us at Camera West for a beginning photographer seminar devoted to bringing a clear understanding of the digital cameras many options including menus, modes, lens choices, f stops, iso, histograms, and assorted intimidating buttons. Each topic is illustrated with pictures resulting in understanding craft and moving toward pictures under your control. We will finish with a more tame camera. We will also look at editing software. Remembered… many historical photographs were made with no menus, one lever, and one button.
This casual presentation is especially appropriate for beginning photographers. There will be time for open conversation, questions, and refreshments. Please RSVP early as each monthly session is limited to 12 participants.
Next Session Thursday. October 27th 6:30-8:30 P.M.
Cost: $50 per person
Location: Camera West Rancho Mirage, 70-177 Hwy 111 Suite 100, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270
Several weeks back Camera West Walnut Creek’s own Leica master along with our Leica rep, Tom Brichta hosted a five-day trip photo workshop down to the Monterey and Big Sur area of Central California. Mother nature displayed her best sunsets and it was a successful trip for all. Stay tuned for more information on our next trip soon.
Thank you to everyone who came out to hear Nacio Jan Brown last evening at Camera West Walnut Creek.

Brown photographed virtually all of the major anti-war and social protest activities in the San Francisco Bay Area beginning in the mid-1960′s. His work has appeared in many books, magazines, and newspapers worldwide, including art historian Peter Selz’s book, The Art of Engagement: Visual Politics of California and Beyond. His work is in the collections of SFMOMA, the Metropolitan Museum, George Eastman House, and many private collectors.

Searching for True North is a selection of images from 30 years of Jordahl’s photographic work as he follows his internal compass to discover the universal landscape-places that, while separated by cultural or political borders, are united in their celebration of the Earth and it’s interaction with human-made elements.
