Leica Camera has announced that a new firmware, version 220.127.116.11 is now available for the Leica M (Typ 240). The new firmware improves white balance providing better skin tones and color, improved video quality with lower video compression and new lens profiles.
In addition, the new firmware will also fix the following bugs:
- Improve stability using Live View with and without the Electronic View Finder 2
- Improve general stability of the camera’s system
- Eliminate issue with Display settings when sharpness is set on high
- Eliminate erratic ‘Auto Power Off’ function
- Eliminate incorrect recording dates for video files
- Eliminate problems with Copyright and Artist’s Information in EXIF-Data

Nikon has announced the D610 – a camera mostly unchanged from its predecessor the D600. The improvements are pretty much limited to the shutter mechanism, which has been replaced to deal with the dust issue, adding a couple of features along the way including a continuous shooting mode that has been bumped from 5.5 to 6fps, the ability to shoot up to 3fps in a new quiet continuous mode, and weather sealing that matches the D800.
The D610 will be ship later this month for $2,000 for the body only and $2,600 in a kit with the 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G lens.
Zeiss today announced the price of their new OTUS 55mm f/1.4 APO Distagon T* ZF.2 & ZE lens: The lens with a Canon or Nikon mount is named after the scops owl (Latin : Otus scops) and will retail for $3,999.

The Leica Traveller Tripod ($525.) offers photographers a compact and lightweight professional tripod which makes it ideal when traveling.
