July Photo Walk : San Rafael Twilight Criterium

Please join Michael for this photo walk on Saturday, July 27 to San Rafael where we will photograph the exciting, fast paced sport of criterium racing. The San Rafael Twilight Criterium features a series of races right in downtown San Rafael. Races are held throughout the afternoon with the men’s pro race held under the lights at twilight.

Shooting fast moving subjects is a challenge and our July photo walk will certainly test our skills with bike racers tearing around the street corners of downtown San Rafael at 35-45 miles per hour. We will get ample opportunity to shoot the racers as they ride the same loop numerous times during a 45 minute to 1 hour race.

What you will learn :

  • How to capture fast moving subjects
  • How to maximize the focal length of your lens
  • How to use a fun technique called panning, or dragging your shutter
  • How to use flash fill
  • How to use a gray card

The techniques you learn on this photo walk can be applied to any sport, not just bike racing.

Cost : $25.00

Call or email Michael at Camera West in Walnut Creek for more info or to sign up.

New Firmware for Nikon Coolpix P7700

Nikon has released another firmware update – this one – 1.2 for the Coolpix P7700 compact camera . The only modification in this release is:

“When shooting with shooting mode set to M (manual) with Flash, and the ISO sensitivity set to Auto, ISO 80-200, ISO 80-400, or ISO 80-800, ISO sensitivity was sometimes not locked at ISO 80 and a different ISO sensitivity was sometimes applied. This issue has been resolved.”
