Tilt-shift photography is all the rage. Having the ability to distort perspective and focal plane to create atmospheric blur effects is fun. Tilt-shift lenses however are usually quite expensive, but Lensbaby makes a whole line of lenses for very little.
Stop by at Camera West and check out the Lensbaby Muse, Composer, Scout and Spark.
Adobe has updated Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6 with full Retina support, among many new features.
From Adobe :
This update installs new features for Adobe Creative Cloud members and Photoshop subscribers. It offers exciting new capabilities for design, photography and more, including the freedom to nondestructively edit with Blur Gallery and Liquify using new Smart Object support, the ability to export text and shapes as CSS, the option to create Conditional Actions, and support for new HiDPI displays that enable a dramatic improvement in image fidelity and resolution. Other new workflow timesavers are also included. Customers with Photoshop Extended will also receive new 3D options including improved live previews that simplify the creation of shadows and reflections in 3D artwork and a 32-bit color picker for better illumination control, and more.
Note however, these changes are unavailable to those who’ve bought traditional versions of Photoshop CS6, and Adobe has not said when, or even if, ‘perpetual users’ of CS6 will have access to these features. Retina Display support for Mac is available for all users.
To get the update In Photoshop or Illustrator, choose Help > Updates. The Adobe Application Manager will launch. Select Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator CS6 and choose “Update.”.
Filters are a necessary part of a photographer’s inventory. They are as important as a camera or lens and can help you make memorable images. Filters also allow film and digital cameras to see things more like our eyes see a scene. The range of brightness that film and certainly digital sensors can record is far less than the human eye can see. To accurately render a scene as our eyes see it, we often need the help of filters.
Filters also help protect the expensive front element of your lens. Better to crack an inexpensive filter than the front element of your lens!
At Camera West we offer a full range of top quality filters from B+W, Heliopan, Schneider, and Lee, among others. Stop by and talk to our knowledgeable staff for recommendations on a filter for that photographer in your life.
They make great stocking stuffers!
