Associated Press’ Olympic Journey

So the Olympics are over but the memories last. There were some amazing moments captured by staff photographers from all over the world, assigned to cover the London Olympics.

The Associated Press has been covering the Olympics since 1896!!! There was no news photography back then as we know it today. Papers relied on artists to create drawings of the athletes and events. Dispatches were sent to us here in the United States via transatlantic telegraph cable. The stories and drawings appeared in newspapers the day after the events. A far cry from today when pictures can be published and viewed by the public just minutes after the events conclude.
