Leica Prints in Black & White

Horsetail Fall, Yosemite

Many of the world’s most memorable images were shot in black and white, and as any experienced black-and-white shooter can attest, there is still something unique, compelling, and beautiful about this traditional medium, especially so viewed in a print format.

Leica Akademie instructor and local sales manager Tom Brichta will be in our Walnut Creek store this Friday morning, July 6 to show us some of his fine black & white 13″ x 19 ” prints all taken with a variety of Leica cameras. You are all invited to check out his work in an informal session between 10:30 and 12:30.

Tom will also be leading a Leica Digital Black & White workshop in San Francisco on Saturday, July 14, 2012.

This one-of-a-kind workshop will let you explore this fascinating monochromatic world by learning to pre-visualize scenes in B&W and explore new ways of seeing. The program combines a class lecture with real world shooting experience. Under the guidance of Leica Akademie instructor Tom Brichta, you’ll gain a more profound understanding of lighting, texture, contrast, and tonal gradation. And you will get to take your learning into the field with Leica M9 or X1 cameras. This workshop will focus on capturing images and processing with the easiest workflow. Lightroom techniques as well as easy-to-use plug-ins will be compared.
