About This Watch:

With the release of the Speedmaster Professional Ref 310.30.42.50.01.001 came many significant updates to this cherished timepiece. Modernizing with a new co-axial Calibre 3861 hand-wind movement, it is the nostalgic return of the dot over 90 on the tachymeter bezel as well as the step-down dial that set this reference apart from its predecessors.

The History: The Speedmaster was introduced in 1957 as a sports and racing chronograph, complementing Omega’s position as the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games. Its iconic place in history stems from its utilization by NASA for the Gemini Titan III crews and eventually by the astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission, which made it the first watch to be worn on the moon.

The Watch: The Speedmaster Professional Ref 310.30.42.50.01.001 features a 42mm stainless steel case with a Hesalite crystal. The matte black dial has the familiar three recessed registers as well as a “step-down” dial, which has not been utilized in a Speedmaster dial for over 50 years, giving dimension and depth to the face of the watch. The number of hash marks between the minutes has gone from 4 to 2, giving a less busy appearance. The tachymeter bezel insert is aluminum and marks the return of the dot over 90, which is a welcome return to the original Moonwatch design. Powered by the updated Calibre 3861 manual-wind Co-Axial movement, the Ref 310.30.42.50.01.001 is a certified Master Chronometer, approved by METAS, resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss and features a free-sprung balance with silicon balance spring, Rhodium-plated finish, and bridges etched with straight Geneva waves. This timepiece has a power reserve of 50 hours and is water-resistant to 50 meters. The stainless steel bracelet has all brushed links with a taper from 20mm at the lugs to 15mm at the clasp.

The Details: This Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref 310.30.42.50.01.001 is in very good condition, with some wear on the backside of the lugs from strap changes, which is visible in the photos. This piece was purchased new in 2023 and remains under factory warranty. Included are the outer and inner boxes, operating instruction booklet, warranty card, pictograph card, chronometer certification card, customer service card, polishing cloth, and Omega stainless steel bracelet.
